Day Shift by ViaEstelar Day Shift by ViaEstelar
New day in pre-resonance cascade Black Mesa. Today Freeman's gonna be introduced to his Mark4 hazardous suit - if he keeps running he'll be able to arrive at the training room just in time. Barney's shift is over. Sinister (in all senses) bureaucrat is roaming facility's corridors... Life was pretty good back then. *feels nostalgic* :aww:

Pretty sure I already commented on this but my favourite part about this piece is Barney. His clothes, his face, his hair, everything is perfect. As far as what Barney would look like as a young man, I think you 100% hit the nail on the head, and the result is great to look at.

G-Man actually isn't left-handed from what I can tell... He holds his briefcase in his right hand (not his left as you've depicted here), as a right-handed person would, and while he usually straightens his tie with his left hand, that's because he's holding the briefcase in his right. The one time we see him straighten his tie while he's *not* holding the briefcase, he uses his right hand. So I think it's safe to assume he's right-handed.

Aw, I know he's right-handed. Normally I am attentive to such details, but with this particular picture I allowed myself a small artistic license (I highlighted the "sinister" part to show that I'm aware of this... noncomformity, and not because I actually think he's left-handed). I wanted the logo to be seen on his briefcase without flipping the canvas horizontally or sending G-man in the opposite direction. :)

Ooooooh, okay. XD  Fair enough! (It's funny that his briefcase has the logo in the Half-Life series but not the Half-Life 2 series...maybe in Half-Life he figured it'd help him blend in, but he ditched it after? XD)

It's actually kind of surprising to me that he's right-handed, if any character in the Half-Life franchise was gonna be left-handed, he'd be the obvious candidate! XD

I love it. He looks so ordinary and happy, yet we all know what he's running eagerly toward.

Ahhh this is really refreshing, the good old days when pals just had to do their job and not fight for their lives

First off, I would like to say that this is a really fantastic piece. Like, really I love what you have done with this (not to mention Gordon's looking very slick with that mullet XD). Anyway, I run a series on YouTube called the Half-Life Saga. It's sort of a hub for all sorts of different Half-Life content where I have walkthroughs for the games, mods, and other such tomfoolery. I was wondering if I have your permission to use in my thumbnails for upcoming videos for the show. I have contact with lots of other artists who have let me use their stuff in the past, but your art is just too good to pass up. Of course I have any/all assets used linked in the description of each video and would be more than happy to link to any pages you may desire. Anyway, I just thought i'd give it a shot and ask. I've seen you say before that you are okay with your work being used as long as you are properly credited but I just wanted to formerly ask and make sure. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing what you put out in the future!
