Deviousness |
So, in the game’s opening scene the character – a quiet introverted new-yorker - finds himself in the restroom of a small diner, with snake-shaped wounds on his forearms and with a dead body on the floor. All Lucas remembers is that he was eating and reading a book, and then suddenly took a knife, hid in the toilet stall, cut his arms and murdered a stranger who was unlucky enough to enter the restroom – but he has no memories of why he did that, only vague mental images of a man in the middle of hundreds of candles, and a little girl silently asking for help. Lucas manages to sneak off before getting caught. The next day he wakes up and discovers that the murder somehow activated his dormant mystical abilities. At first he thinks he imagines it due to the posttraumatic stress and even contemplates turning himself in or just killing himself but dismisses the idea and decides to start his own investigation instead. Meanwhile the police girl who took Lucas’ case, discovers that similar murders happened before: seemingly normal people suddenly cut snakes on their forearms and kill strangers with three extremely precise stabs, cutting pulmonary arteries from heart. After that they either committed suicide or went crazy and waited for police to arrest them. And all such cases were classified for unknown reason. Later Lucas learns that two-headed snake on his arms is an ancient Mayan god with unpronounceable name, and he was chosen randomly to perform a human sacrifice. The ritual is managed by the old mysterious oracle that can erase memories of himself from human mind. The oracle can’t soil himself with a blood of another, that’s why for executing a sacrifice he chooses a proxy and hypnotize him into murdering a victim. Such Executors are marked by two-headed snake and after the ritual must kill themselves. This is what usually happened. But the oracle was too old and too self-confident to notice that Lucas has powers similar to his own and is quickly learning to control them. Yeah... And in the end he saved the world. Because he is that awesome.
